For more than 40 years, LifeLine/ChildLine has been working in Namibia to protect children from all forms of violence, neglect and sexual exploitation. LifeLine/ChildLine operates a National Counselling Centre in Windhoek, which handles phone, SMS and online counselling services for the whole of Namibia. This includes face-to-face counselling services in Windhoek, voluntary testing, and counselling in three regions, as well as counselling training. LifeLine/ChildLine also complements its counselling services with community-based activities to promote social behaviour change and child protection.

There are no mandatory legal provisions for criminal background checks. However the persons included in the sex offender registry may be barred from holding certain positions involving or facilitating contact with children. Such persons may not be allowed to act as alternative caregivers, foster parents or provide child welfare and protection services, or run or manage or assist in institutions for children.
