Global Study on Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism: South Africa

Some African countries are considered emerging tourism destinations for child sexual offenders. It is difficult to obtain statistics or figures on the scale and scope of such violations due to the lack of studies or research as well as the hidden nature of the phenomenon. According to ECPAT International’s African network members, South Africa is one of the countries most affected by sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism (SECTT) in the African region.
